Minors Division 1 Match reports.

Minor League Round 4

 

                                                Westport  3-9  Carras 0-13

 

Westport Minors had a good win at home  on Sunday last, beating Carras by 3-9 to 13 pts. The game was played in ideal conditions, and on the main pitch for the first time the lads reacted well and played some lovely attacking football. Westport started brightly and points from Oisin Mc Laughlin, Alan Kennedy and Fionn Mc Donagh got them off to a good start but Carras pegged them back with three points of their own. Westport then had two excellent moves finished for goals by Oisin Mc Laughlin and Alan Kennedy.  Carras fought back with two points of their own to go in at half time down  2-3 to 5 pts. Three points from Oisin Mc Laughlin and two from Alan Kennedy, with a goal from Fionn Mc Donagh saw Westport pull ahead. Carras again responded with three points before Eoin Rowley pointed. Carras then finished strongly with three unanswered points but Westport held on comfortably to  claim the points on a score line of 3-9 to 13pts.

Minor League Round 6

                                                Westport  1-12  Aghamore 2-10

Westport Minor’s lost their league game at home to Aghamore on Fri. Evening last by a point on a scoreline of 1-12 to 2-10.In a closely fought contest there was never much between the teams, and Aghamore just did enough to shade it. Aghamore started the more brightly and got a couple of points on the board before points from Paul Lambert(3)and Sean O Donnell(1) and a goal from Oisin Mc Laughlin gave them the lead. Aghamore responded with a goal of their own and then tacked on 3 more points to go in at half time leading 1-4 to 1-6.

Westport started the 2nd half better and some strong running resulted in scores from Oisin Mc Laughlin(2) and Paul Lambert(5) Aghamore stayed close with points of their own and late in the game scored a goal to win by a point
