Playing their best football todate Westport got their first win away to Ballina.In perfect playing conditions on an excellent pitch it allowed the covies express themselves with a good brand of open fast flowing football.The turning point of this game was a brillant save from a penalty by the Westport goal keeper Patrick O’Maley just before the end of the first half.The score at halftime was Ballina 2gls 5pts to Westport 1gl 12pts. The quality of scores from Westport kept the scoreboard operator busy with Westport breaking the twenty point barrier for the first time this season. The backs and midfielders put in a solid performance restricting Ballina to one score in the second half. The final score was Westport 4gls 23pts to Ballina 3gls 5pts.

Goals at crucial stages of the second half ensured Westport got their first home win of the under 16 league.The first half was dominated by both sets of defences resulting in deadlock at halftime with both sides six points each.Killian Kilkelly, Paul Lambert and Oisin McLaughlin goals in the second half got Westport over the line with a final score of Westport 3 -12 to Belmullet 1 – 11.
