Round 1

Ballyhaunis 3 – 11 Westport 1 -16

A late goal by Ballyhaunis denied Westport a win of the first round of the division 1 league played under lights in the Connacht centre of excellence.The half time score was Ballyhaunis 1gl 5pts to Westport 6pts.Westports goal came from the boot of Colm Moran.Wing back Aaron O’Flaherty scored two excellent points and despite scoring sixteen points it wasn’t enough on the night for Westport.Mark Reilly gave an impressive corner back display.

Westport 2 – 10 Castlebar 3 – 16

Westport played their first home fixture in Castlebar due to an unplayable pitch and for the the sceond time played the game under lights.This was a very good game but on the night Castlebar were the better team. Halftime score Westport 1gl 7pts to Castlebar 2gl 7pts.

Round 3

Westport 2 – 12 Balla 2 – 15

Following round three of the league Westport are still looking for their first win following a three point defeat to a powerful Balla side.Westport played well in the first half and lead at the short whistle by 1gl 10pts to Balla 6pts.The defence team of Mark Reilly,Paul Duffy,Stephen Roddy,Aaron O’Flaherty, Peter Corcoran and Andrew Ferson were playing well ably assisted by goal keeper Patrick O’Malley. Brian O’Malley and Darragh Walsh put in a good hours work in the middle of the field.The forwards Oisin Mclaughlin, Colm Moran, Paul Lambert, Killian Kilkelly, Pat Joyce and Sean Tierney got some great scores but not enough on the day.
