Under 14 Ladies take the Double

Westport A under 14 girls win over Davitts in the Championship County
Semifinal
Having already beaten them in the league the girls were prepared for a
hard game. Their direct approach about the game and their fitness
levels were various throughout. Davitts were no walkover, it was
closely contested and Davitts for many parts of the game responded
every time Westport scored. Westport captain Lisa Scahill proved
worthy of her role, blocking from herself, Sharon Cawley and tenacious
play from Dearbhla Mc Garry and Roisin Hogan constantly saw off the
opponents attack. Jessica Ryan having travelled back from the
Gealtacht made it very clear that her journey home was not going to be
wasted, her constant harassment and staunch defending saw many attacks
breaking down, with the two midfielders Sarah Lavelle and Ciara Moran
feeding lovely ball into Emily Costello, Saoirse Ludden and Lily
Muldowney.
Scores across the team from Emily Costello, Saoirse Ludden, Lisa
Smith, Rebecca Sammon and Ciara Moran. As usual Catherine Walsh was on
her game and Aoibheann Lally with excellent kick outs.
Final score Westport 9-9 Davitts  6-3
