Under 14 division 1 final v Ballina

Westport      2 gls 9pts – Ballina 1gl 7pts  (Held in in Breaffy)


Westport were going for back to back county league titles at under 14 division 1 level.Ballina had already defeated Westport in  an earlier round of the league.Having to line out at the start without Ruairi Keating due to injury Westport did not let that effect their game.


A game Westport lead from beginning to end a  goal by Tomas Walsh helped to settle the team.Paddy Glavey went off injured after 15 minutes to be replaced by Ruairi Keating  – who scored two points.


At half time Westport lead by 1gl 3 pts to 4pts. Darragh Gallgher was alert to score Westport second goal.A point by captain Jake O’Shea ensured Westport held onto their title despite a late rally by Ballina.


Afterwards the trophy was presented by Sean Mac Eil from the County Board to the captain of Westport Jake O’Shea.The celebrations continued late into the night!
